Happy Fourth of July!

We celebrated this year by running a 5k race here in Sebastian. My dad was in town and ran it with us in 30:30- Jason beat a girl (me) and ran it in 32:00 and I was somewhere near the 37min mark. But, we never stopped running. Thats what counts. That and finishing. I was glad Jason beat me. I gave him my iPod, afterall, and ran in silence. If any of you are music-runners, then you know what a sacrifice this was for me. I got to listen to the shuffle of his feet for miles and was glad when he pulled ahead (Lady Gaga must've came on).

Running down Indian River Drive was brilliant- and it was the exact route the parade was taking afterwards. So it was like we were the parade, because people were all lined up waiting for it while we ran. Our Sebastian friends had a whole set up and we joined them following the race.

Meme and Papa- Sunny didnt move an inch from her position here. Watched the parade for over and hour, stuffing her face with Cheerios and fruit.

She waved and pointed, absolutely loved it. The parade was all there for her and she knew it.

Home 'Renos

My parents came over for the night and helped us with home improvements that I am unable to do (and its a given Jason's also unable to do it). I put them to work hanging shelves and painting walls. The week has been productive for the house: My office library: lots of time spent thinking about how I wanted this room, my room (the shelves are all quite even, my editing of the photos will not show this, since I am SICK of editing photos on picnik.com. Time is money, people) The dining room wall, one wall, is "tangerine". Mom insisted this color was 'in'. Watch HGTV, let me know if this is true. It looks good though.

Dig. Dig. Dig. I needed a new project earlier in the week (and an excuse not to run that day) so digging was free and I had a shovel available, so we dug out this flower bed. Now landscaping costs money and we're stuck with a dirt-bed. Its a nice shape, right?

I've been growing these flowers for 2-3 months now and I thought I'd take a photo before I killed them.

All you mothers out there: bottle weaning. I only have ONE WEEK worth of formula left for Sunnylee. She already drinks cows milk for months now, in a straw-cup and mixed in her bottle. She likes her bottle before falling asleep, which will be a problem. Any suggestions to wean? This week we ordered these headbands from a chick on ETSY: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/30656707 Most every gift, accessory, or decoration I buy comes from this website. Our friend Beau wears these headbands all the time in NYC, so we thought we'd rock it in Sebastian. I'd post a photo of Sunny wearing one but she yanks them off instantly.

Hmm... this blogging "every day" is going just how I thought it would go: not happenin'. Making a big spectacle to Jason so he knows I'm not on Facebook. We started the weekend with a morning girl trip to the river for a run. It was the first time I ran with Sunnylee in the jogging stroller and for good reason: its too damn hard! I made it less than 10 minutes before I had to start walking. After she threw her toy over the dock into the crab holes, we headed back to the car. Opting against waking up at 5a and driving to Okeechobee for Sunnylee's First Birthday party, we left the night before instead. We decorated by throwing random yellow stuff around until almost midnight.

No goldfish were harmed here; they were set free after the party into my dad's Koi pond. Now they graze on algae in the free world.

I let Sunny have her sugary sweet cake, but ONLY because my cake lady made a 'baby cake' just for Sunny, even though I hadnt asked her too. I justified it by seeing the look on her face and knowing she wont get another taste until her 2nd birthday.

How cute is this? They were a great crowd.

She rocked these Converse for awhile today, loving the pitter patter, running in her shoes up and down the sidewalk.

We're home! We are finally home in Sebastian, with zero intentions on leaving! At least not for a few more days. Is there anything better than your own home? We've been rolling around on the floor with Sunny and her new toys, watering and working in my gardens, no immediate plans to do ANYTHING. I've been in Yellow Party mode for months, so its nice to not be party planning. Except that thing called a wedding thats coming up in something like 80 days.... forgot about that.

A Week in the Life of the Gligs

To kick off my newest time-consumer (this blog!), I am cramming 7 days of Glig down your throat, then I think I'll ease into a daily blogger. I will try to add another chore (this blog!) to my schedule, in between the laundry, dishes, husband, and kiddo (I am officially That Girl now). Here it is: (ps. I like parentheses) I asked myself why I dont bring my camera along to document everyday activities within this new little family of mine? Sure, we bring the pocket digital to the big stuff, the events, the holidays, etc. The DSLR hardly leaves my home. I leave all cameras behind since I feel like its "work" (cuz I do SOOOoooo much photog work....) and another reason: I like to BE in shots, not take them all. Point: I am bringing my camera along side Sunny & me & Jase for 7 days, hence the title. Here is a week in our life: Day One: Morning- The Baby Gym. This is an every Thursday playdate, which I havent been to since Sunny was a Crawler. Now that she is a Sprinter, I took up my Sebastian-friend Britt's invitation to finally go again. We have every intention on ruling the place, jumping on the trampoline, leaping through the tunnels, but Sunny ends up playing alone and looking at her muscles in the mirror instead.

Ready to socialize, she scans to see who wants to give up their toy for her to knaw on? After the 'stimuating' gym experience (better luck next week), we drive up to Satellite Beach to visit our cousins. We swim and little cousin tries to drown Sunny but disguises it as "teaching". Mom and cousins' mom (my cousin!) stay close by. Day Two: Mum already needs a break from blogging and photography and goes to Aunt Jena's for some quality time by the pool. Gossips with Hollis and Alex and eats lots of cheese products. Sunny and her daddy spend time together at home riding around in her wagon. Day Three: Our First Invite to a One Year Old Party I spend a good chunk of the party blocking Sunny from food she cant have while she lunges for it. "Its like stealing candy from a baby" she thinks while Nick's mom keeps piling food on his tray, right at Sunnylee-height. We meet Jason at Capt Hiriams when he finishes deep sea fishing in the afternoon. A couple cold one's by the water is the perfect way to end the day. Day Four: Jason's First Father's Day Sunny decides THIS day she wants a sleep in, so I take her photo while she looks sweet and innocent, then I wake her!

I wrapped Jason's gifts weeks ago. He only gets a First Father's Day once. These are his Man-Presents:

She and Jase open the pressies, she's excited to get all new teething toys. We go to Cracker Barrel, Jason's never been, and we make a tourist take a photo of us. They deserved it for being tourists. Jena and Greg came over and the boys went golfing so we could have time to sit on the couch and talk about babies and watch HGTV. Later in the day Jenalee and I take Sunny's One Year Old Photos. & we are thankful cuz even later this happened: Sunny Fell Off the Wagon, literally. Onto the road. Her nose and mouth were bleeding and swollen almost immediately and turning purple so we took our first trip to the ER. The main reason I insisted on going was cuz she screamed for over 30 minutes. She charmed all the nurses and we went home with a "perfect nose" Xray for a souviner and we ate our cold Father's Day dinner. Day Five: Aunt Janet's in Town We eat a good Cook family dinner and watch Sunnylee play all day long. Janet is my dad's twin. Cant you tell? See you next in Hawaii! Day Six: Sunnylee's First Birthday-- So cool to have a one year old! I went into her room that morning to get her out of her crib and sang Happy Birthday. Unbelievable.

I let her eat some of this cupcake. See, I give her sugar. Now that's it until her next birthday. This is her new bug ride-on. Its from Meme and Papa, my parents. We gave her this drum instead of holding out for her party thats coming up on Saturday. Day Seven: We Rest- by need, not cuz we're religious.
